Donations wanted for Campus Community Farm

On Friday, April 23rd at approximately 6:45am our Campus Community Farm garden shed was burned to the ground at our garden location on Chancellor Matheson Drive/Pembina.  Arson is suspected.  The farm, a new UMSU Service, is a student led initiative whose main objectives seek to provide access to students and community groups with high quality arable land for gardening and sustainable mini-farming, while addressing a number of pressing environmental issues such as food security and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through the promotion of local food initiatives.

No to proposed massive tuition fee increases

Many student faculty councils across campus have been approached with proposed tuition fee increases.

Proposals include:

Asper School of Business – 55% tuition fee increase
   $4,622 / year to $7,122 / year

International students
   $13,233 / year to $20, 391 / year

Medicine - $2,000 tuition fee increase every year for the next 4 years
   $7,377 / year to $15,377 / year

Dentistry – 40% tuition fee increase
  $13,338 / year to $18,673 / year

Agriculture – 20% tuition fee increase
   $4,200 / year to $5,040 / year

International students
   $13, 462 / year to $16,154 / year

International students are not permitted to enrol into the faculties of Medicine or Dentistry.
These tuition fee increases do not include costs for books or supplies required.

To get involved, stop by the UMSU office & sign a letter telling our Provincial Government that you do not support massive tuition fee increases.
