Types of Off-Campus Housing

 

The following are various kinds of accommodation offered in the City of Winnipeg.
You are encouraged to choose one or more to best suit your wants and needs.

Room & Board

Students rent a furnished room in a private house, apartment or townhouse.
Often meals are provided, and the number of meals, packed lunches, etc.
must be discussed between the landlord & student.
Bathrooms are shared with the landlord or other students, or sometimes students may have their own bathroom.
Average Rent: $500

 

Room for Rent - Shared Accommodation

Students often rent a room, but provide their own food and have kitchen privileges.
Bathrooms are either shared or private.

Average Rent: $250-400

 

Private Apartments

Apartments are usually rented unfurnished, and range from
Bachelor Suites (Combined sleeping & living area) to 1, 2, & 3 bedroom suites.
Leases range from month-to-month, to yearly leases.

Average Rent: $350+ (Bachelor) to $500+ (1 Bedroom & up)

 

Apartments in a Home

These apartments usually have a private kitchen and bathroom.
Utilities, laundry, and private entrances vary from place to place.

Average Rent per bedroom: $250 to $500 per month

 

Houses

Most houses come unfurnished, but with appliances (Stove, fridge) provided.
Often, entire houses are for rent, or rooms in the house are for rent for students.

Average Rent: $300 to $500 per student
